To usher in the celebrations of December, Biere Club does an annual event of making their ‘Christmas Brew’. This year, their 4th in a row, they invited a bunch of us for a tour of their brewery, and to talk about this new celebration brew that would be ready in time for Christmas! Biere Club has always been special to classic beer lovers, they are in fact the first microbrewery to be open and functional in Bangalore, and pretty much revolutionized beer drinking. We were called in pretty early in the morning, so that the strong smell of the brew dies out by the time the brunch and lunch parties get in. So just out of bed, rubbing eyes and sitting in cab, I managed to make it to the party just in time.
Our host for the morning was Rohit – the Head Brewer for The Biere Club. We started our tour from milling stations leading into the mashing tanks, brewing, fermentation and conditioning. And then straight to the taps. They currently have 5 beers on tap, and the 6th would be their Christmas special that would be available 22nd December onwards. We in fact, got to try the fermented beer, and it was all spiced up and rich. They serve Ale, Lager, Stout and Wheat, and have beers servings available in 330ml, 500ml and 1.5litres to choose from. And while they started off as a place that primarily serves finger food, their platters, pizzas and main courses have now completely evolved their dine in menu. It was a fun experience sitting down, talking beer and grub while trying their beer samplers and numerous food platters.
