Oktoberfest is a tradition and festival held for centuries – a folk festival running from mid September to the beginning of October. This is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany – and it is quite an experience. This year it stands cancelled, due to Covid-19. In  Bangalore, given the city’s love for beer and the headquarters of Kingfisher Beer, we have had some pretty large scale celebrations – including multi day music and beer fest, copious amount of beers consumed, special brews at microbreweries, promotional menus – everything we would need to bring in the spirit from Bavaria to Bangalore. But that is also quite simmered down this year. However Dublin in ITC Windsor brings some of the authentic treats from Oktoberfest to make sure you don’t miss out on the food!

We ventured out on Wednesday evening for some beers and food to the Dublin, the bar looked nice and welcoming. We sat down and got pints of Kingfisher, and scanned the menus on our phones. The warm potato salad and bavarian style camembert dip seemed just the way to start, with add on of pork bacon of course! Simple and delicious, came with bread on the side. Next up were some bratwursts – chicken with and pork. They are quite sumptuous, so definitely recommend sharing. The highlight of the evening and the menu was definitely the meatloaf – beautiful texture and the meat was nice and tender! The desserts had the usual suspects like Apple Strudel, German Chocolate Cake and Bayerische Cream.

The Last Word

The Oktoberfest menu is available in Dublin all through October, both for dine in and take away. The menu has a lot of other options like Curry Wurst & Fries, Potato and Leek Dumpling, Roast Chicken, Cheese Spatzle – keeping the menu as fest-y as it gets! The sausages and the meat loaf are definitely must try, and of course kick back with some freshly poured beer. Have a good one y’all!
